Illustrator Assignment - Success

Success

This photo gave me the feeling of being on top of the world and in the dusk of our lives, success can be defined how each individual sees it personally. Making the climb and reaching the summit of a dark mountain of uncertainty to look down on the sections of life represented by the varied horizon hues. The dark blue sky showing that you're close to the outer limits of the atmosphere as the sun has set and shining  an orange tint on the lower of the  few highest objects or clouds. But still shining white light on the highest of all the clouds - whatever they represent for you as your pinnacle of success. Makes me think about what success would really mean to me...and that the material things in life may not be that answer.

RedE2Go Logo - Final Version

Here is my final version of the RedE2Go Website Designs and Marketing Documents Logo. Additional versions will follow for Printing, Presentation and Website use.

Thinking including the "RED" in the verticle spine of the E identifies more clearly the name of the company and will work in situations where gray-scale or black and white printing is necessary. The colors represent the RGB color system and gives a good basis for the marketing message of "Taking your company from the Red to Green" in terms of profitability or progress.

Critiquing Current Logos

Here are a few logo critiques, some good some bad....

This logo seems too simplistic and forgettable. The buildings graphic is too abstract and doesn't lend itself to relaying what the core business is about. One section of their business is architectural rendering, but it's only a small section of their target audience. The text is a very simple type and isn't very unique.

Mountain Dew is a favorite soft drink of mine, but I am not a huge fan of the new logo style. Understandably going after the "X-Games" type of buyers, it has an edgy angular style. And I would assume that it's trying to portray movement...but I think it could have been done in a more refined style that give me the feeling of modern and more thirst quenching.

UT...Love this school. But it's due for a logo upgrade. My first impression looking at this logo is that it includes each element (the Spartan, minuet, logo of UT on the face shield and the over-sized crest on the helmet), but looks like the designer had all these elements and stuck them where ever they would fit as an after thought. It's a good stamp, but a new one with more styling and flow would be more appealing.

This one is Fantastic! Had to say that, it's my girlfriends firm and she designed it in MS Publisher herself when setting up her company. It's due for some refinement. The positives are that it's recognizable and lends itself well for all types of media (print, online and embroidery). But the flags seem washed out and there's not enough contrast in the accent curves. Done in the right format, deeper shades of color and some small contrasting adjustments and it could work.

This one from the Florida Society of Clinical Oncology is the worst example of corporate logo I could find. With tiny text, strange looking palm trees and symbol in the bottom section just doesn't work. You can't use it for virtually any media except print and only if the size is large enough to read the small fonts. The trees look weak and it's just an overall poor design. There's not anything I can say positive about it.
